In apertura di secondo tempo raddoppio del Waterford con Aamond che sfrutta in modo perfetto un pallone in profondità e batte ancora il portiere. Reazione subito veemente del Galway che con Walsh e McGuinness provano a riaprire il match ma di testa il portiere è sempre pronto tra i pali a neutralizzare le conclusioni. I padroni di casa accorciano le distanze con Walsh che di testa, su piazzato, fa gioire sugli spalti i propri tifosi.
Al 70′ gli ospiti si portano sul 3 a 1 grazie ad un autogoal dopo la respinta del portiere e la palla finisce ancora in rete.
